Our Story

In 2015, our founder, Pam Graves, traveled to Jinja, Uganda on a mission trip. What began as a week of service turned into a life-changing calling. She returned home deeply moved by the resilience of the Ugandan people and the urgent needs of their daughters.

Years later, Pam reconnected with missionaries and local friends in Uganda. The statistics were staggering: 8 out of 10 girls forced into marriage before 18, many to men with HIV. Most were pulled from school, sent to work in fields, and denied the chance to dream. Poverty and tradition had trapped a generation.

Pam knew education was the key. If families had resources, boys went to school. Girls stayed behind. So she began raising funds one scholarship at a time to change that story.

What started as Stirring Hope grew into Amina Hope: a ministry built on faith, dignity, and the belief that girls deserve more than survival.

Our Mission

Empowering Girls. Transforming Futures.

Amina Hope exists to empower marginalized girls in Uganda through education, skills, and faith.

We provide scholarships, vocational training, and mentorship so girls can rise above poverty and forced marriage, becoming leaders in their families and communities.

Education

Education Opens Every Door

For many Ugandan girls, school is not an option. If a family has resources, sons are sent to learn while daughters are sent to work. This cycle robs them of their childhood, their safety, and their future.

A scholarship changes that story. Covering tuition, uniforms, and books, we make it possible for a girl to step into a classroom, discover her potential, and begin to dream again.

Empowerment

Skills for Life Beyond the Classroom

Education doesn’t stop at textbooks. During holiday breaks, girls in our programs learn practical skills like cooking, sewing, nutrition, and gardening. These classes build confidence and independence - skills that not only provide income but also restore dignity in families and communities.

Amina Hope ensures that when a girl leaves school, she has more than a diploma... she has the tools to thrive.

Mentorship

Guiding with Faith and Strength

The journey isn’t easy. Girls face pressure from families, poverty, and cultural expectations. That’s why mentorship is at the heart of Amina Hope. We walk alongside each student with spiritual guidance, emotional support, and a community of encouragement.

Faith anchors this journey. Mentorship reminds every girl: you are not alone, and your life has purpose.

Community

Changing Culture Together

No girl can rise if her community holds her back. That’s why Amina Hope works hand-in-hand with families, churches, and local leaders to shift perspectives. We raise awareness about the dangers of child marriage and the power of educating girls.

True transformation happens when an entire community values its daughters—and believes they deserve the same chance as its sons.
